Except for the instrumental leads, I created the music  and first two verses for Dear Heavenly Father back in 1983.

The last two verses were written at the time of recording the song one track at a time in December 2006.

It illustrates the confusion experienced

trying to understand how the world we live in could exist, with all the hurt and problems, if God was real and in control. The answer is simple, so we can learn why we need to choose God. God gave us the freedom of choice wanting us to choose him. Choosing God is choosing right over wrong. Choosing God is choosing life over death.

I have found, through my personal experience, that choosing God is not hard when you give your problems to God. But surrendering your life to God can be difficult because we want to drive and do it our way. Add to that the worldly influences tempting us to give into the flesh, or the “fun stuff” that is not in our best interests, or the love of money can cause confusion as to what we think we want to do.

It is my hope that Dear Heavenly Father will be relatable to anyone with the same question of how can life  be so hard if God is good and God is in control with the answer challenging us to learn from this hard life using the tools provided by scripture.   

From the creation of the music to the recording of Dear Heavenly Father it took 23 years to gain the experience necessary to be able to figure it out.

In fact it took another 15 years before I released it on this website still learning from life’s challenges. That is a total of 38 years from the thought of this song to it’s release.

Finally the time is right to move forward with my desire to tell all that God is real.

And to give thanks for his blessings.
